I saw an interesting facebook post this morning and it propelled me to write this. Someone posted a link about the late Whitney Houston’s daughter getting high after her mother’s funeral. While we don’t know what she was getting high on but someone’s comment was “aint nothn wrong w/ a lil weed to brign u outta the duldrums….jus sayin…” and someone said “that’s if it was weed, i hope so” and needless to say it really disturbed me.
I would love to know when society changed the message from “don’t do drugs” to “don’t do CERTAIN drugs.” People think just because we don’t hear about others dying from smoking marijuana it doesn’t have it destructive qualities, and if you really believe that I have a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you. I guess I’m out of the loop as far as that one. Now historically we saw the Hippies, but if you look back at that time their lifestyles weren’t necessarily the most desired or socially acceptable, now seems like their activities are the norm.
However I will say this. With our generation being a “stoned” one, it doesn’t surprise me that we have been statistically proven to be the least productive and least employable generation. I’m not necessarily saying the studies have correlated the two, I’m just saying that I look around at members of my generation and the lack of productivity in regards to being responsible, functioning adults and it doesn’t surprise me.
So I’ll end it here and of course a bunch of you will feel judged and the way I see it, it really doesn’t matter. I’m not saying that to be callous, rather because while you feel a reaction by what I wrote, you probably judged 10 people today without even recognizing it. Yet because what I wrote was somewhat offensive to your character you feel judged by me and in turn will probably judge me. See how that cycle works people? All in all that’s just something I saw today and I had a reaction… got a problem? Sue me!
